“All the girls on your website are so beautiful – I could never look like that.”
“I’m not sexy.”
“I’m not photogenic – you will be lucky if you can get three good pics of me.”
I hear the above comments and so much more every day in the studio. And it makes me want to cry. I hear it from businesswomen and stay at home moms, from ladies in their 20s to their 50s, from svelte size 2s to curvaceous size 20s. We are all so conditioned into putting ourselves down that we truly forget to notice how beautiful we are.
My mission is to show you what I can see.
To show you that are you a beautiful, dynamic, sexy woman. I can see it the moment every client walks in the door, and that moment when they are in front of my camera and they start FEELING it is magical.
We are bombarded by unattainable imagery in the media that leaves us feeling not-pretty-enough, not-thin-enough, not-sexy-enough, and generally not-fabulous-enough. There is a secret, though, that the people who create the images that keep us feeling down on ourselves don’t want us to know…
Those images AREN’T REAL! I thought I knew how NOT real those magazine and advertisement photos were, but it wasn’t until I became a professional photographer and learned how to photoshop that I understood exactly how far you can go in photoshop to manipulate a face and body. And boy do they go far!! From elongating necks and legs, carving off thighs and waists, enlarging eyes, plumping boobs and lips and chiseling jaw lines, they morph real women into fake doll-like fantasies (whose fantasy?!) of what women should look like. Pair all of the post-processing work with the professional hair and makeup and expert lighting and posing in the photos, and you have a result that we cannot ever dream to achieve in life.
No wonder we feel bad about ourselves! But do you want to know another secret? You, too, can look how those women look!
Have you seen photos of models in every day life without their professional makeup and hair styling? They look NORMAL. Many of them you wouldn’t even guess are models. They look like you and me! That means, with a little professional hair and makeup and skilled lighting and posing, you can look like them! It’s true! We should all understand what goes into those photos and know that we can achieve the same results. MINUS the extreme photoshopping. I do believe in some basic photoshop magic, but I do not believe in disfiguring people into unrealistic versions of themselves.
We ALL should have the experience of feeling like a supermodel and realizing that a super-vixen resides within us. If you don’t believe me that YOU can do it too, check out the before and afters in our gallery and see dozens of “girls next door” transformed into bombshells. Always OWN YOUR SEXY, ladies!
ALL women are beautiful. ALL women are sexy. And ALL women deserve to own it.
I owned my sexy.
I wanted to have my own session so I could really relate to everything my clients were going through from the anxiety to the fun, so I turned to my teachers, The Boudoir Divas. Having shot so many boudoir sessions myself and knowing from my side of the camera how fun and empowering boudoir is, I didn’t think I would be as nervous as I was to actually walk out on set in my skivvies.
Wow, was I nervous! But I truly did feel at ease almost immediately. When you have had your hair and makeup professionally done and you are rolling around under the hot lights, feeling sexy, you DO become a supermodel, and I wish every woman would give themselves a chance to experience it!
I think ALL women should do this, but here is a special word of encouragement to those ladies out there who think they are too shy, too fat, too old, too whatever to let themselves enjoy something like this: DO IT ANYWAY!
As a not-so-skinny girl myself, of course I was anxious about how I would feel seeing myself in photos, but I focused on the ones that I LOVED and walked out of there that day feeling like a million bucks!
A few of my images are below…
