Real Client: Jillian
Tell us your story! Why did you want to do a boudoir session?
Plain and simple, I got dumped. My long term boyfriend had just finished telling me how he hadn’t been in our relationship for a while and so I won’t lie I cried. I cried a lot. But then after good ugly cry session I decided that I didn’t need anyone in my life who didn’t want to be there. So I googled a couple boudoir photo packages and stumbled upon Own Your Sexy. Own Your Sexy resonated with how I was feeling so I booked a package that same night. And then ordered a ton of lingerie!
I found Own Your Sexy just by googling. There are a lot of options out there but Own Your Sexy was the only option I found that really wanted the client to embrace themselves. After a breakup that’s really not something you hear very often. The normal spiels are, “You’ll move on,” “Time will heal all wounds.” That kind of stuff. Everything suggesting that as time progresses you will be ok. But Own Your Sexy made me feel like I was still sexy in the present situation I was in. Be it mad, confused or just happy.
“My boudoir session has definitely pushed me even further into a level of confidence I wasn’t aware I possessed.”
To prepare for my session I bought a ton of lingerie. I’ve been treating this past month as a treat yourself month. I was in a long term relationship so now that I don’t have that other person around I do what I want in every situation. So if I saw something cute that I thought would look good for the shoot I bought it. I also pampered myself in other ways like getting my nails done and getting massages and just a lot of positive affirmation from myself. Also I drank a ton of water!
I swear by Gooseberry Intimates. Their products just hug your curves and feel so great that as soon as I booked this shoot I splurged on a couple things. My one tip for anyone doing a shoot, if you see something that speaks to you, don’t hesitate, just buy it. The photos are of you so you have to be happy with what your wearing.
“Being afraid to try things is okay, but using that fear as a reason to never try anything new isn’t.”
Would you offer any advice to other women who are considering doing a boudoir shoot?
DO IT! Every woman is a queen who deserves to look back and think to themselves, “I was a queen in these pictures and I’m still that same bad ass queen today.” Just have fun.
I loved the entire experience from start to finish. My favorite moment was getting to play in the closet and try different jewelry, it really made me feel like the options were endless and I could play with how I wanted to appear in the photos.
What does SEXY mean to you?
Sexy to me means knowing your worth. After ending a relationship I felt like I was going to do on a downward spiral of despair. But it’s actually turned out to be one of the best changes of my life. It made me realize that I’m worth more and that in all facets of life I deserve more. It made me realize who I really am and so sexy to me being confident and never doubting my worth.
How did your boudoir experience impact you? Have you noticed any changes in yourself, be it your self-confidence or anything else since your session?
My boudoir session has definitely pushed me even further into a level of confidence I wasn’t aware I possessed. I show everyone these pictures because part of me is shocked that I could look so sexy and the their part is proud I finally figured it out.
