Tell us your story! Why did you want to do a boudoir session?
It was around my 1 year anniversary for having a bilateral mastectomy. I was diagnosed April 2016 with breast cancer on both sides, and decided to opt for a bilateral mastectomy. Since then, I have never looked back and never felt better about myself. I wanted to capture this moment in time when I feel and look my best.
“I had never felt so sexy and pretty in my life. I think every woman should do it once in their life.”
What did you do to prepare for your session?
I made sure I stayed healthy, worked out, ate healthy and stayed out of the sun, read that email Laura sent over and over again. I also did a a lot of research and looked at pictures to figure out what type of wardrobe I wanted for the shoot.
Where did you shop for your lingerie/shoes/accessories? Do you have any shopping tips?
Victoria Secret and Frederick’s of Hollywood, shoes I had all along. I stuck with something I felt comfortable with and something that is true to who I am – I didn’t go with anything that is too much out of my comfort zone. Don’t wait till last minute like I did, I would suggest getting a bunch of things and styles you like to try and then take pictures of yourself in them and then see what look the best.
Would you offer any advice to other women who are considering doing a boudoir shoot?
I would absolutely do it, I had never felt so sexy and pretty in my life. I think every woman should do it once in their life. Make sure you feel comfortable with your photographer, it makes a HUGE difference. Laura made it so comfortable and easy – she is amazing!
I felt sexy, pretty and fierce. My favorite moment was when I first saw the pictures – I was in tears, because they were just absolutely stunning and beautiful.
Confident, fierce, strong and most importantly unapologetic.
I feel sexier and prettier and I can take on the world. The pictures gave me a very different perspective of what I thought was reality. They blew me away – Laura had to assured me a few times those are my pictures and she didn’t even edit them. The pictures were completely different than who I see daily in the mirror.
“I never thought this would be such an empowering moment for me.”
Is there anything else you would like to share with us or our blog readers?
I never thought this would be such an empowering moment for me. I originally wanted to go with someone, but last minute went alone and am so glad I did. That moment, that experience belongs to me only – I did something outside my comfort zone by myself and it was just amazing and perfect!
