Own Your Vision
When we don’t own our sexy, we can’t see our true selves.
How do you see yourself? How do you see the world? How does the world see you? How do you project yourself onto others?
Our vision doesn’t always match our current reality. And that’s OK. It’s OK to have a vision of a body that may look different to the body you have now as long as that vision is achievable and healthy.
What so many women do wrong is focus only on that vision of their future self and how they think they are supposed to be. You have to start with where you are and know that where you are is OK. Only then can you manifest the next embodiment of yourself.
While you’re working toward achieving those visions, for goodness sake, do not limit your life! Live fully now.
When asked about owning your vision, this is what my client Chelsea had to say.
“I’ve spent most of my life sort of waiting to live until some imagined day, just around the corner, when I’d finally be thin and beautiful. Only in the last few months, since my boudoir shoot, have I finally decided to live my life for now and not just in hope of a skinny future. I deserve to be happy now. I deserve to feel pretty now. I deserve to buy nice clothes that fit me now instead of saving my money for all the size 4 clothes I’m going to buy when I magically lose a ton of weight in just a few months like I’ve always been planning to do. It’s great to accept the possibility of being the weight I am now forever — not as a defeat — but as an embrace of my body and its individuality and my right to look however I look and feel good about it.”
I wholeheartedly relate to what Chelsea wrote about this and my guess is that you will too.
Visualize Your Way to Success
Visualizations are an incredibly powerful tool. When you’re nervous about something you have to do, such as a presentation at work or a performance, visualizing yourself crushing it is a powerful way to boost your confidence and ensure that you do, in fact, crush it. Visualizing a win or peak performance is also a classic trick of top athletes.
Those who can visualize themselves doing something or feeling or reacting a certain way are more likely to succeed.
Owning your sexy — especially with taking control of your vision of yourself and your world — will make your goals seem that much more achievable. Since her boudoir session, Chelsea realized, “More often when I look in the mirror, I see a sexy woman.”
Since her boudoir session, my client Erica feels less envious of “uber-confident, happy women” because she sees herself as one of them now. And Amanda’s revelation since her session is the ability to envision “how someone would find me to be sexy now.”
To get yourself in the right headspace to own your vision, I suggest collecting images that represent and enhance your vision of yourself. Do yourself a favor and don’t include images of bodies. Include anything that makes you smile like images that make the tension melt from your shoulders and relax your body and pictures that help you feel positive about the future. Continue amassing these images, looking at them daily, and directing that internal animated film.
Soon enough, I promise you, many of them will start to become reality.
